Ah-ha, That's what was tickling my brain. EXTPGM isn't strictly required in the source for the called program. But obviously it is needed in any code that wants to call the program using a prototype. Since the prototype should be /COPY'd into both the called and calling programs, you'd want to have the EXTPGM there. All I know is I've always put it in there since Barbara first told me how to replace the *ENTRY PLIST in a reponse to a question posted in the newsgroup back in 1998.
