You could use READE(N) while loading the subfile instead of READE.
The (N) tells the program not to lock the record.

This program displays a subfile of all records in the file and later
updates individual records.
To avoid record locks, I created a new logical file with the same key as
the
originals.
Is there a more elegant solution, which avoids creating a second logical?
This is my first posting, so I would appreciate any advice.
Thanks, Ken
