Does ldap_init return *NULL? If not, what are you getting when you do a
bind (you did do a bind, right)?

Okay, I tried changing the call to ldap_init() according to Matt's
suggestion: 

ld = ldap_init(%addr(LDAPserver): LDAPport)

..And it's still returning *NULL pointers for any entries subsequent to
that....

...And by the way, all the character fields ar properly null-terminated
before the call, I've checked that in debug too.
