Is not likely to be down if that is your company mail server.  You said
that the server name is an entry parm.  Not sure if it matter, but in
you code, are you trimming the tailing blank?  Another thing to try is
to remove the .com from the server name.

You might want to try to use ldap_search_st instead.  The
ldap_first_entry requires the result pointer that returned from
ldap_search_st.  

Okay, I tried that again too. This time I get an 81 error on that, which
is the LDAP_SERVER_DOWN constant. That sounds like an equivalent to "not
able to contact LDAP server".
