Put a DEBUG(*YES) in the H-spec, and a DUMP(A) right after your EVAL.

Try making the default value x'7D' instead of ''''?

Yea, tried that. No good. Tried fixed length string instead of varying
and tried without += and nothing. 

We just put current cums on a few weeks ago. I think it has something to
do with the quoted string but can't figure out what for the life of me.
