Yep. Dir is a variable. I guess that is the cause of the problem. The error message throw me off a bit. The usual message for inz with variable is "The initial value is not a constant; initial value is ignored." Thanks. -----Original Message----- From: rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:rpg400-l-bounces@xxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Scott Klement Sent: Friday, July 14, 2006 3:57 PM To: RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries Subject: Re: Circular dependency found defining a name like another name
D myNewDir s like(dir) inz(dir)
I don't understand what this code is doing. I've never seen someone code inz() with a variable name! If "dir" is a variable, this code won't work. If "dir" is a named constant, then the inz() will work, but the like() won't. Can you please explain what "dir" is, and what you mean by "inz(dir)"? -- This is the RPG programming on the AS400 / iSeries (RPG400-L) mailing list To post a message email: RPG400-L@xxxxxxxxxxxx To subscribe, unsubscribe, or change list options, visit: http://lists.midrange.com/mailman/listinfo/rpg400-l or email: RPG400-L-request@xxxxxxxxxxxx Before posting, please take a moment to review the archives at http://archive.midrange.com/rpg400-l.
