Poor technique:
myStmt='INSERT INTO QTEMP/MATT (MYCHAR, MYDEC) VALUES(' +
  apos + fld1 + apos +',' + char(fld2) + ')';
exec sql prepare mySqlStmt from :myStmt;
exec sql execute mySqlStmt;
// repeat for each insert

More poor technique:
myStmt='INSERT INTO QTEMP/MATT (MYCHAR, MYDEC) VALUES(' +
  apos + fld1 + apos +',' + char(fld2) + ')';
exec sql execute immediate :myStmt;
// repeat for each insert

Better technique:
// do this first part ONCE
myStmt='INSERT INTO QTEMP/MATT (MYCHAR, MYDEC) VALUES(?,?)';
exec sql prepare mySqlStmt from :myStmt;
// repeat just the following for each insert
exec sql execute mySqlStmt using :RpgVar1, :RpgVar2;
// replaces the question marks with the variables after the 'using'
