You need to convert the numeric date into a character string, then piece the 
parts together to make a character date value compatible with your SQL date 
format default.  Here's a piece of a select I used recently...

SELECT SUBSTR(DIGITS(C.CRDATE),1,4)||'-'|| 
       SUBSTR(DIGITS(C.CRDATE),5,2)||'-'|| 
       SUBSTR(DIGITS(C.CRDATE),7,2)        

This takes a decimal value in YYYYMMDD format and converts it to 'YYYY-MM-DD'.  
This converted value can be used in your SQL expression as a date value.

There is a file having field XYZDAT( Numeric type, size 8,YYYYMMDD). This

conversion of  data type from Numeric to Date type ? would b grat if i can
