        dbField = %trim(dbField) + workField;

How to place null characters in a record






We have a file which is 4000 bytes long and contains just one field
(X(4000)). I would appreciate any suggestions  for how to place null
characters (Hex '00') in all the unused bytes after the data. Ideally in
RPG but Cobol would be ok.
