Tommy, As I understand it, the digits and precision only control what the compiler uses as for intermediate storage. So just use 30,2 or 30,3, or 30,9 whatever your max number of decimals is. %dec won't complain if it doesn't see all the decimal places. Mynum = %dec(str:9:3); Works if str is '100' or '100.123'; HTH, Charles
