Actually, Rick DeShone, Greg Veal Bruce Hoffman and myself started the "Rogue
Programmers Guild" over a decade ago. Which is where I got the term "rogue
programmer".
Rogue and Guild in the same title--sounds like an oxymoron; I guess it is.
I'd ask the other guys what they think, but since we all work independently, we
don't care what the other person thinks, hence the "rouge".

Re: Chalk one up for "The Cycle"
It is when the rogue programmer _decides on their own_ to use something
different
I like that Bob. Rogue Programmer. Sounds like a movie title....lots of
explosions....
What needs to be done is not say "Use X or your dog will die" what needs
to be
said is that you need to make yourself valuable to your organization.
Make
yourself part of a solution. Make your company understand that you can
and want
to do this or that application with the System i; it can do it.
Maybe IBM's System i slogan should not be "I want i", but rather "i can
do iT".
Well said. Too bad IBM's slogan appears to be "milk 'em for all their
worth and don't worry about new installs"
On the subject of the cycle vs. SQL. Every tool has it's place in the
garage, it's our job to decide which tool to use to maximize efficiency.
But we all have our favorite tools. =) (Mine's a sawzall!)
