When I hear John Sears I think Database and when I hear RPG/COBOL performance differences in the context of Database, I seem to recall a time long, long ago when COBOL had the option to work with Database records directly out of the blocked IO buffer where as RPG always worked in move mode, moving the records to local variables. I have no idea if this is still true.
