ooops! sorry that was for binder source.  for subprocedures and modules 
the source type is the same RPGLE, you just use the CRTRPGMOD command 
instead of the CRTBNDRPG.

That is what I am doing; maybe I am not wording this correctly.  If I am
attempting to create (CODE) a sub-procedure module, I assume that the 
actual
source has to be in a SPF member and typically I create these with the F6
key, enter the name and the source type.  For a sub-procedure how do I
accomplish the same thing?

If "normally" use CRTBNDRPG then the answer is nope, not really. <grin>

You need to use CRTRPGMOD, which creates a *MODULE object.

Then you can use CRTPGM or CRTSRVPGM which create *PGM or *SRVPGM objects 
by
binding together one or
more *MODULE objects.

Take a look at the ILE concepts manual.
