Hmm, if you stretch it, even assignment statements can be considered GOTO in disguise, since they have an implied "GOTO NEXT STATEMENT".

Without the controlled-branch operations like CALL, IF, ELSE, DOWHILE, FOR, ENDxx etc, a programming language would be pretty much useless. The most you can say about GOTO is that without GOTO, a programming language would be occasionally a tiny bit awkward.
