Hi Ian,

I wrote an article for the September 2006 issue of System iNEWS magazine that explained how to use SSL sockets from RPG. If you're a ProVIP member of SystemiNetwork.com, you can read it on-line at the following link:
http://www.systeminetwork.com/article.cfm?id=20656

Having the basic socket concepts under your belt will make SSL a lot easier to understand.

Also, you might look at the code in the COMMSSLR4 module of HTTPAPI for some RPG examples. (Albeit, not the simplest ones on earth.)

We use Scott's Sockets Tutorial examples to write sockets clients on
iseries in RPG, - all work very well.
Has anyone done any similar work on sockets clients using SSL ? I can
only find examples using C - which I don't understand.
We are very familiar with using the DCM and certificates (again with
Scott's HTTPAPI project) for HTTP over SSL.
Examples or pointers welcome.
Thanks
Ian Patterson
