PL/I has essentially the same record structure design as COBOL. That's one of the features it copied from COBOL.
EGL has all the same features as COBOL for defining records, and it will auto-convert between Java objects and EBCDIC structures on calls. It also has support for meta-data, including labels and validation which can be used to quickly build web pages.

Just thought I'd plug EGL since we're talking about languages.
