Based on the further detail given in the quoted text, my inference what was the original scenario as noted in my previous post, was correct. The given analogy describes in detail the expense [in time] involved in using either FETCH or READ versus the SQL summarization. The SQL summarization is much more efficient for minimal movement of the data.
