I do this kind of thing too ... when it comes to security routines, if you bind by reference then the service program (or called program, for that mater) could be put in a library higher on the library list and intercepted.

If you bind by copy, it's impossible to substitute another program or service program, because the module containing the security code is embedded in the main program.
