I would strongly recommend against hard-coding x'7D' in your program.
Your software would then only work on systems where x'7D' happens to be
the single quote.
What if someone took your code and put it on a different system where
x'7D' isn't the quote mark?
You may be saying "that's very unlikely" -- but even so, it COULD happen
-- and it's SOOO easy to do this without hard-coding the hex value, that
I just don't see the reason you'd want to hard-code x'7D'.
Furthermore -- if APS is intended to always be an apostrophe, and never
change, why did you code it as a variable? Why not use a named constant
-- that's designed to be unchanged -- rather than code it as a variable?
