I like the idea of putting ASCII transparency codes in the data stream.
It's easier than it sounds.


It is easy. But the disadvantage is you are tied to then directing to an
ASCII printer which uses the same data stream. Things like PCL5 are pretty
widely supported though, and PCL3 even more so. Just don't expect to change
the outq to an EBCDIC printer and get the same results (unlike using
indicators in a PRTF).
