Admittedly, I've not done it either way at this point. So correct me
if I'm wrong, but I think I'd prefer to send the document inside the
XML.
Mainly because that way I don't have to providing a publicly
accessible repository with appropriate security.

I've to send via https an XML that contains inside a 500 to 1,000 pages
listencoded into byte64. This can result in a big XML.

AFIAK, the limit would be 9999999999999999 bytes but I can't say that
I've ever tested that (In fact, I'm pretty sure I've never seen an
