<<< Yep! And he has a free-form comment "// Clear Included SKU Report " and then the comment column with "Selection Field". So it is an accident that this works, it is actually 2 comments one after the other. >>>

No. It is one continuous comment which starts with the `//`. You might have a point about the separate area in 81-100, but I found an error message when extending code past column 80:

. 1 ...+... 2 ...+... 3 ...+... 4 ...+... 5 ...+... 6 ...+... 7 ...+... 8 ...+... 9 ...+... 0
Exec SQL Select Count(*) Into :RecordCount From POSPF401 Where :Cycle_CYMD = RDCYCDATE;

The error text is:

Message . . . . : The comment entry on a free-form calculation is not valid.
Cause . . . . . : On a Free-form Calculation Specification, text within the Comment entry (positions 81-100) must begin with or follow the characters //.

Therefore, it is acceptable for my comment to extend into the area past column 81 because the comment began with the `//`:

5 ...+... 6 ...+... 7 ...+... 8 ...+... 9 ...+... 0
// Clear Cycle Date Position Cursor Indicator
// Position Cursor On Exclude By Field
// Clear `F7` Display Indicator
