Hmmmm... I'm *hoping* the e-mail will be (or will have attached) an XML doc, or an EDI document or something else that's designed for a machine to read.

If it's using a human-readable, non-standardized format, then yes, you've got a big problem. But I'm not sure that this is what the OP was asking...
