So is the trick to retrieve the decimal format for your current locale and if it's period then strip commas and if it's a comma then strip periods?That works for numbers that are formatted for your locale. More specifically, you have to know the decimal format for the locale of the formatted number, and process accordingly. If the number is *not* from your locale, in addition to stripping the thousands separator you'll have to then convert the decimal separator.
