Adam put it more simply than I did :-)

Basically, if you're going to be accessing the same data area in more than
one program in a row, it's probably better not to define it as a UDS, but
simply as a DS data area which you implicitly IN and OUT.

In your code, this would work if you simply remove the 'U' from 'UDS' in
your test program.
