Hi, David:

The answer is "*NO*" .... the activation group will be automatically reclaimed/deleted when the program returns, regardless of the setting of "LR" :-o
(ACTGRP is a feature of the OS that applies to all *PGMs, not just RPG IV...)

You should carefully consider whether it is appropriate to use ACTGRP(*NEW) ... if the program is called repeatedly in a given job, the overhead can be significant.

Hi,

PGM A compiled with ACTGRP(A) calls PGM B compiled with ACTGRP(*NEW);

Does *INLR have to be *ON in PGM B so that its activation group disappears on returning to PGM A?
IF it ends with RETURN, is the activation group still alive?

Thanks.
