It is available *only* if you use a program-described file. For some
unknown (to me) reason, you can't use them with externally defined files.

Doug, I think the original reason back in RPG III times was that the names of the lookahead fields have to be unique. The external names would have already been used on the regular I specs and the compiler would have had to somehow create new names for the lookahead fields.
