For what you want to do to - capture errors - I would suggest a Log file
keyed by Posting Batch or RunTime-Date.

Your edit pgms will then be super simple, and the user needs will be
easier to satisfy, too.  What if the user wants a report in addition to
the subfile?  Since the logfile can be thrown onto a Subfile, or onto a
report, and can be sorted various ways, it is flexible.

I have worked on several Financial modules, and this design became a
shop standard, since this design let us farm pieces out to junior
talent.
