Well, when I was hired at Touchtone Corporation (when it was still QuestComp, Inc.), I was already fluent in BASIC (several dialects and derivatives), FORTRAN, and PL/I, and somewhat fluent in Pascal, COBOL, C, Lisp, Modula-2, and both PDP-11 and 8086 assemblers. And I'd *seen* a mainframe RPG source listing (a family friend's junior college project).

It didn't take me very long to teach myself MI, but it quickly became apparent that in order to take over maintenance of QuestView, I'd need to work on the portions written in RPG, as well. So I taught myself RPG. Including those portions of The Cycle that are useful for things other than running reports.
