As has been said, these APIs have been around awhile. Once you get over 
the initial hurdle that "APIs are hard" (not true, by the way), then I 
suggest getting Bruce Vining's book, APIs at Work - buy it from the link 
on this list's home page and help David fund the mailing list. I'm very 
sure he has an example of processing an open list that you can work from 
and imitate.
