Carsten, thanks for posting the link. We're not using stored procedures,
and our program starts off with an explicit EXEC SQL SET OPTION COMMIT =
*NONE.

Paul, I'm very much inclined to agree with your suggestion that this is an
OS bug. I've forwarded the appropriate information to the folks who handle
sys admin in our company, as this is out of my area of responsibility.
