I agree that the CONST might not be passed through - that is why I asked 
what I did in my reply - did that change in 6.1?

I still think this is a messy setup, and the SQL pre-compiler does not 
handle such things well.

Now it is not clear whether the message is in the precompiler output - I 
think it is - or in the final compile listing. We need to see more.
