Peter,

The RPG-XML Suite from KrengelTech (Aaron Bartell's outfit) provides a
rather nifty DOM parser which would (I think) do what you want. Not
necessarily 'better' than a Java DOM parser (and it costs money, whereas you
might be able to find a free, if unsupported Java DOM parser), but if you're
also in the market for the other stuff that RXS does (web services etc.),
it's an option. An option which doesn't require Java <big smile>.
