I was one of those who did not learn new skills. I used to use the old Query alot, then CPYF, non ILE for the most part. At least for the area I am in (C#, Silverlight, ASP.net) I find it relatively easy to learn from seeing the code and start to make small changes. I would have been much better off preparing for the inevitable though. At least to have really learnt SQL.
I know several former RPG programmers out of work for 2 years or more. It is sad but they likely will not work in that area ever again. I do have hopes of finding something in i though. I really find SQL Server very cumbersome to learn.
If anyone want to see anything in actual working environment of C# let me know maybe I can arrange a tour of code or apps if that will help.
