OK. But it seems to me that if you're adding the parameters to the program
anyway, the approach would be ideal for you. (Put another way, "you can do
what you want.") But then again, it was just a suggestion.

This would be great if I was writing both pieces from scratch. What I
am attempting to do is replace a physical file in existing code with a
program that will take the old record format and populate new table(s)
with it without affecting the logic structure. In other words, other
than the F spec and maybe a parm list the code should be exactly as it
was before.
