I tend to view these types of exchanges with something between mild
amusement and moderate annoyance. This particular one has run the gamut.
I was not going to respond until Aaron threatened to leave the group.
Please don't, Aaron. I don't really have time to belong to multiple
newsgroups, and I don't want to lose the benefit of your skills and
experience. Or Jon's. Or Joe's. Or anyone else's.
Every rose (that I know of) has thorns, but if I allow that to be the
deciding factor, then I will miss the benefits of the flower. If I get
stuck by a thorn sometimes and it hurts, well let it hurt. I refuse to
allow the thorns to keep me from the magnificence of the rose. Joe and Jon
are both roses, and they both have thorns, as does everyone else on this
group (myself included). I have a great deal of respect for both Joe and
Jon, and ask that they agree to disagree. I respect them and their
opinions, even when I personally disagree.
I do not want to see this group lose anyone. We've already lost Simon and
Lukas and I miss them dearly.
