You're right, he should get an *ESCAPE message.

Though, it's not because he's passing zero bytes for the error code format. Indeed, he's not passing the error code format to QUSRJOBI at all.

But, you're right that he should get an escape message. Except that he's passing the length parameter incorrectly -- that can cause the system to overwrite other storage, and at that point, all bets are off.
