Python has speed bumps. PHP has potholes. :P

Python is more sterile than PHP, and vastly more elegant. But it's
not nearly the most sterile or most elegant. (For that, try Haskell
or Scheme. Python is downright dirty by comparison.)

The idea behind better language design is to allow the programmer to
spend more of his mental energy thinking about the problem he needs to
solve, and less on thinking about how to get around the idiosyncracies
of the language.
