Sorry Shannon but not really. Like many other solutions it requires that there be a job specific name of some kind created and it would require retrofitting to a very large number of programs with associated testing.

I'm going to give the client a couple of options - one that uses a simple named data area in place of the LDA. This has known (but possibly theoretical) limitations but keeps the fix to a single program. And one that uses the environment variables idea since that can be passed through to submitted jobs.
