I have to 'get' the member_id from the iSeries. It will be 25-30 or less records per night.

If I need to get the member_id from the iSeries each time would the addBatch API be the best. It looks like that is for adding multiple files at once?

Yes you can...

But this is going to be _very_ slow...

If you are doing a lot of records, my first choice would be to do this from the MS SQL Server using a "linked server" to the IBM i.

If it absolutely has to be initiated from the IBM i, I'd look into "batch"
updates via the JDBC addBatch() and executeBatch() methods. However, from a cursory glance, it doesn't appear that Scott has wrapped those methods.
You can look into wrapping them yourself or you could simply do the whole thing in Java on the i.

Now I have to update 3 fields in a file(table) in the SQL db from an
RPG program.

I have to read an iSeries file to get a member id, and then get the
member record from the table in the SQL data base and update 3 fields.
Then loop back and get the next iSeries record.

Using Scott's code, I was planning on using the Prepstmt to hold the
member id value and the 3 variables. Then JDBC_ExecPrepUpd subprocedure
to update the 3 fields in the db. Am I understanding the code correctly?
Can I have the iSeries file 'open' while I get the db record? Any
other help would be appreciated. Thanks, Kim
