I am trying to use the pcre library<http://pcre.org/> (from AIX) on

IBM iseries.

Did you get all the dependencies?

According to this page:
http://www.perzl.org/aix/index.php?n=Main.Pcre

PCRE requires:
Bzip2
Readline
Zlib

There may dependencies of dependences and the list may get long.
Readline needs info
Info needs bash and gettext
Etc.
