Hello John,

Not sure if you're open to commercial options, but our RPG2SQL product has built-in capability to save to any format Excel can save to since ultimately we're automating Excel via a service program.

Seems that the XML 2003 spreadsheet format might be what you're looking for. It's listed as one of the Save-As options.

Feel free to email me your sample XML file and I will have a look at it if you don't find another way to handle it.

Regards,

subject: Read from a db2 file, populate an excel .xml ifs file using
rpg

What is the best way to do this?

I actually already had it done using hssfr4 and poi but after I sent them the file, they said it had to be an excel '.xml' file.

I've been told the easiest way is using data structures..?

I've done them in the distant past using ifs apis before, and I know it is probably doable using cgidev2.

I have a sample/template of the excel .xml file.

Thanks for any help.

John
