You can define a P field, and assign that P field as the contents for the SFLSIZ/SFLPAG. Then, you can set the value of that field in RPG, and the DSPF then becomes somewhat dynamic, in that RPG controls the SFLPAG and SFLSIZ values, and it is not hardcoded in the DSPF DDS. Here is sample code:


A SFLSIZ(&S1_SFLSIZ)
A S1_SFLSIZ 5S 0P


Using this scenario, and RPG providing the size parameter values, you could either: Initialize the fields in *INZSR, or, you could place these values in a control file or data area, and when the program runs, read those values and initialize them with the value in the control file instead of hardcoding. I know this may not answer your question, but it is another way of having RPG "know" what those values are. Hope this helps.
