I don't think it will work this way. For one thing your overlay array is going to cover GL_Account_01 thru _05 - and that's assuming that Account and Amount are the same size which I doubt.

As a minimum you need to define all Accounts before the Amounts. You will also need a group field in order to redefine the Amounts as an array. Like so: (in free form 'cos I I can't align while I don't have an editor available.

dcl-ds GL_Stuff;
     Account_01 Like(x);
     Account_nn Like(x);

   Amounts;
     Amount_01 Like(y) Overlay(Amounts);
     Amount_nn Like(y) Overlay(Amounts: *Next);

   Account_Array Like(x) Dim(nn) Pos(1);
   Amount_Array  Like(y) Dim(nn) Overlay(Amounts);
end-ds;

Even if you do it this way I'm not convinced the Alt will work - not sure why you want to use that it seems to buy so little but that's just me probably.
