I'm not where I can easily check the manuals, but I think that the
compiler will automatically assign an overflow indicator if you don't
specify one.

However based on what you are describing, it appears that the
indicator only gets defined if used. What happes in your test program
if you:
1. Set *INOF off.
and/or
2. Use *INOF in an IF statement.
