Are there other steps needed to make RUNRMTCMD work?
The Subject nor that question would seem to have anything to do with
technical aspects of coding RPG or other aspects of RPG.
Is there a requirement for particular services or settings on a
Windows 7 desktop to allow a remote connection? The failure is 00202,
Call or program failed.
The target system must be running "an rexecd (remote executing)
daemon" for *IP specified for the Remote Location Name (RMTLOCNAME)
Address Type, or must be running "an AREXECD (APPC remote executing)
daemon" for *SNA specified for the Address Type. The quoted snippets
are from the Run Remote Command (RUNRMTCMD) command help text or the
command-synonym AREXEC:

I have used STRPCCMD, and that works just fine, excepting for the
123 character limit.
Start PC Command (STRPCCMD) command runs a request on the 5250
client, but the /service/ is effectively the emulator that [and how]
that client feature implements the feature; e.g.:

_STRPCCMD command changes_
"Start PC Command (STRPCCMD) behavior changes.
When STRPCCMD is used with the 5250 emulator in IBM i Access Client
Solutions, the maximum command length that may be specified for the
PCCMD parameter is now 1023 characters. Other 5250 emulators may
truncate the command to their maximum supported length. For example, the
5250 emulator in IBM i Access for Windows and Personal Communications
will truncate the command to the existing limit of 123 characters."
