The RPG philosophy is that you the programmer know the best way to
grab records from the database.
The SQL philosophy is that the database knows the best way.
A one-for-one substitution will bring very unexplainable performance.

Learning SQL has immensely broadened my ability to write better
applications, but honestly it's about the broader topic of application
design that it is about /code/ per se.
