When you code options(*string), you don't need to null-terminate the string yourself. options(*string) will do that for you. You just need to pass the string directly, as Brian said, rmdir(%trimr(p_path)).

I can't help wondering why you're declaring your l_path_x variables as 60A, which would only pass 59 characters of p_path to rmdir. If you really do only want to use the first 59 characters of p_path, then use
rmdir(%trimr(%subst(p_path : 1 : 59)));
