This must've changed in the the distant past 'cos I can recall getting compilation errors. Thanks for pointing this out, Lynne. (As you say, it doesn't do much.)

Actually, you can specify a host variable in the order by. It is legal. It just would be the same for every row selected, so it wouldn't do much as sort criteria unless it was used in a calculation. So it is unlikely to be what is desired here.
