For #2, I still have the little voice in the back of my mind telling me
that I've seen this before, where the entire Completion message was
accessible to the RPG program. I could be completely wrong (it wouldn't

be the first time), and either of the other techniques will work for the

current situation.

The actual SQL message text is not automatically available to the
RPG program. It is in the joblog and the RPG program can use an API (
QGYOLJBL) to retrieve it from the joblog (and I have done this). But that
is about it.
